We are pleased to announce the official release of R-2.5 v6.0 for MetaTrader5. This update incorporates a critical enhancement aimed at improving the robustness and risk management capabilities of your automated trading system.

This update is for MetaTrader 5 only! The MT4 version is not affected by this update and continues to work as expected.

R-2.5 operates on a strategic principle where losing trades lead to an increase in lot size, up to a defined maximum lot size, with a reset to the starting lot size upon a winning trade. In previous versions, we identified a scenario where, upon a losing trade at the maximum lot size, the EA would continue to operate at this heightened lot size until a subsequent winning trade occurred. This behavior, while following the core strategy, could lead to prolonged exposure to larger positions during losing streaks.

Changelog​

  • Improved Lot Size Management:
    • If a trade opened with the maximum lot size (e.g. 16.0) results in a loss, R-2.5 v6.0 will now automatically reset the lot size to the starting lot size (e.g. 1.0) for the very next trade. This immediate reduction in exposure significantly enhances risk control and protects capital more effectively during extended drawdown periods.
  • Reduced Maximal Drawdown:
    • R-2.5 v6.0 shows a significant reduction in both Balance Drawdown Maximal and Equity Drawdown Maximal. This indicates a more stable trading experience with less severe fluctuations in your account equity.
  • Enhanced Risk Management:
    • The improved lot size reset mechanism directly leads to a safer trading approach, especially during prolonged losing streaks. The system is now better equipped to recover from significant losses by reducing immediate exposure.
  • Overall Robustness:
    • While the total net profit for this specific backtesting period was slightly lower than v5, this is a direct result of the more conservative risk management in v6. The primary objective of this update is to deliver a more robust and capital-protective trading solution, even if it means sacrificing some aggressive profit-seeking in high-risk scenarios.

How to Update​

To update your R-2.5 Expert Advisor to v6.0, please follow your standard MetaTrader 5 EA update procedure. This typically involves:
